Ludhiana, July 17,Channel88 News (Bureau):- The Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Punjab established Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) in 1995 comprehending and visualising the need of trained professionals in the arena of Textile and Garment Industry. In 2013 NIIFT got affiliated with Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala for providing degrees to students, steering and supporting in admission procedure, faculty recruitment and training as well as curriculum scheduling and upgrading.
Ludhiana, apart from being a significant textile cluster, is at its fruition in the production of hosiery, knitwear and readymade garments. NIIFT, in August 2008, achieved another milestone, by opening a new centre at Ludhiana, for providing industry with trained professionals in Fashion business. Since then, NIIFT, Ludhiana has emerged as a premier institute and strives to impart knowledge comparable with international standards. The Institute has grown with each passing year adding new courses and continuously evolving strong relations with garment industry.
The institute is offering B. Sc (Fashion Design Knits) – 3 year Graduate degree program after 10 + 2, B. Sc (Fashion Design)- 3 year Graduate degree program after 10 + 2, B. Sc (Textile Design) – 3 years Graduate degree program after 10 + 2, M. Sc (Garment Manufacturing Technology) – 2 years Masters Degree program after graduation, M. Sc (Fashion Marketing & Management) – 2 years Masters Degree program after graduation, M. Des (Fashion & Textiles)- 2 years Masters Degree program after graduation.

The last date for submission of on-line applications is 20th July 2020. The admissions to the UG programs will be done through Online Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held in the last week of July 2020. However, admission to all PG programs at NIIFT, Mohali will be on the basis of merit of the requisite qualifying exams.
Upon successful completion of the course, pass-out students can start their own enterprises, in the Textile, Fashion and Apparel sector, apart from getting placements as Design Consultants, Fashion Designers, Merchandisers, Sourcing & Product Managers and Fashion Photographers & stylists, naming a few.
