Chandigarh, July 21, Channel88 News (Naveen Bansal):- Haryana Police have cracked a dacoity case in which gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 crore and Rs 2 lakh cash was looted from a private gold finance company office located at Bhima Goda chowk on Sunauli road in Panipat.
Of the jewelleries looted, police recovered 81.310 gram gold and Rs 52.25 lakh cash. Besides, three country-made pistols, a swift car, and a bike used in the crime were also seized from the possession of arrested accused.
The DGP Haryana had announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for any information leading to arrest of the accused in this case.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that gold jewellery worth over Rs 2 crore and cash of Rs 2 lakh was looted by these miscreants from India Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL) after holding the staff hostage at gunpoint in January 2018. A CIA team, on July 14, had got a secret input about presence of robbers that committed the gold heist. On receipt of information, police immediately raided the location and nabbed five accused from a clinic in Sector-29. During preliminary interrogation, they disclosed the gold heist. A case to this effect was registered under relevant sections of IPC in Panipat.
Among the arrested is gang’s kingpin Dawood of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The others are Imran, Bijender alias Binder, Rajiv alias JP and Sunny alias Doctor.
Initial investigations revealed that Dawood had come to Panipat and started living in a rented accommodation. He was under Rs 5 lakh debt due to fondness for gambling. He made a plan of dacoity in a gold finance company and committed the crime alongwith his aides.
After the incident, all accused had divided the looted ornaments and cash. Police have recovered Rs12 lakh from Dawood, Rs14 lakh and 81.310 gram jewellery from Imran, Rs 15 lakh and swift car from Bijender, Rs1.25 lakh from Sunny and Rs 10 lakh from Rajiv during remand. We are trying to recover the remaining gold that was looted.
While two accused have been sent in judicial custody, the other three have been taken on five-day remand for thorough interrogation. Now section 342, 392, 397, 420 and 120B of IPC have also been added to the FIR.
