Ludhiana, Channel88PUNJAB FC ALL SET TO KICK OFF THE FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST QUESS EAST BENGAL ON 7th DECEMBER 2019
Ludhiana, Channel88News, (Buero):- As announced previously, Punjab FC – the sole representatives from Punjab in the Hero I-league will play their home matches of the 2019-20 season at the Guru Nanak Stadium of Ludhiana. Former champions Punjab FC (formerly known as Minerva Punjab FC) started their Hero I-League campaign with an away loss to Churchill Brothers Goa. They will hope for a change of fortune as it will be a homecoming for Punjab FC and they will look forward to starting afresh in the first home game of the season.
Punjab FC will host three back to back home games in historic Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana starting on 7th December 2019. The other two home matches are against the current Hero I-League Holders Chennai City FC on 10th December and 16th December against Indian Arrows.
The Pre-Match press conference for the first home game was held at 04:45 pm IST on 6th December 2019 at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana. The press conference was attended by Punjab FC coach Yan Law & player Bali Gagandeep. Yan hails from the footballing capital Kolkata, he is the youngest AFC A license holder in India who previously was in charge of age old Mohammedan Club. Bali hails from Punjab who played for Salgaocar, Goa. He was part of the I-League winning team of Minerva Punjab. He then went to play for East Bengal and this season he is home. Yan was asked about the team to which he replied, we have a good mixture of Indian and foreign players, we have some local Punjabi players as well. The mood in the camp is electric and we can’t wait to kick off our season in front of our home fans. On asking about the team’s chances against East Bengal, Bali was very positive and said “ We hope to kick off our home season with a win. We have studied East Bengal very well and my teammates are fit and positive to get all three points”
From Quess East Bengal coach Alejandro Menéndez attended the press conference. The Spaniard was asked about their team’s chances against the home team, he said we have been travelling a lot and we are on a tight schedule as we played our first match of the season just two days back. Our players are a bit tired but we will give our all tomorrow. Player Kassim Aidara attended the press conference. He was part of the I-League winning Punjab FC team, two years back. When he was asked about his feelings about facing his previous club, he said Punjab FC treated me really well, we were like a family but now I am an East Bengal player and will have mixed feelings facing my previous club.
