WITH PROMISE TO MEET NEXT YEAR AGAIN, KILA RAIPUR RURAL OLYMPICS-2024 CONCLUDE
Ludhiana, February 15: (Bureau) Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Anmol Gagan Maan on Wednesday said that the state government was committed to revitalising the Punjab’s glorious heritage and culture by organizing traditional fairs/festivals in different parts of the state throughout the year. Underscoring the need for abreast the younger generation, the Minister said that to showcase Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had given clear directions to celebrate the traditional fairs/festivals with great pomp and show in every nook and corner of the state to make Rangla Punjab. She said that there was no dearth of funds for this work and unprecedented efforts were being made by the government to exhibit the old and traditional culture of Punjab. Mann was addressing the people on the third and last day of the Kila Raipur Rural Olympics 2024. The Minister said that the government had released Rs 1 crore for holding these world famous games this year and more grant would be given to further take these games to new levels. Showering compliments on the district administration Ludhiana and organizing committee for the success of the mega event, Mann envisioned that these games would go a long way in transforming the destiny of youth from the rural areas. She also complimented all the officers for making strenuous efforts to evolve a foolproof mechanism for organizing this mega event. On the occasion, the Chief Guest also felicitated the winning players. She also visited the stalls by Self Help Groups set up in the culture and heritage exhibition depicting scenery of old rural Punjab. Meanwhile, with the promise to meet again next year, the three-day rural sports fest culminated here. On the last day, the matches of hockey (Semifinal and Final), 400-m race (girls and boys), Kabbadi circle (Semifinal and Final), 100-m race (Male above 75, 80), 100-m race (Girls and Boys), cycling and others. A special Taekwondo show by team of International level coach Satwinder Singh was performed by a group of school students from Patiala. The musical performance by renowned Punjabi singer Amrit Mann also enthralled the people in the stadium.
