PUNJAB GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE SUBSIDY ON FODDER CHOPPERS

LUDHIANA, September 23, Channel88 News (Bureau):- With an aim to promote the use of modern machinery in the field of dairy farming, the Punjab Government has decided to provide subsidy on fodder chopper machines. 

Divulging the details, Deputy Director Dairy Dilbag Singh Hans said that under this scheme, milk producers from general categories would get Rs 50,000 while milk producers from SC categories would be getting the benefit of Rs 63,000 on fodder chopping machines.

He informed that due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the farmers have been facing a shortage of labour for their daily routine works and the modernised machines would reduce the hardships of farmers by directly chopping the fodder from farms.

Deputy Director Dilbag Hans said that interested farmers can visit the office of the dairy development department at 598 L, Model Town, Ludhiana or can contact on phone number 0161-2400223 to avail the benefits under this scheme. He said to avail this scheme farmer must have at least 10 milch cattle and had undergone training in dairy business from the Department or GADVASU.

Meanwhile, the induction of fodder chopper machines would improve the quality of feeding of the livestock of farmers as these chops grass, maize, sorghum and other forage, in similar particle sizes besides these machines have been technically recommended by experts for silage making and have also been ideal for fresh-cut feeding. These automatic machines cut the crops sown in lines and directly put the chopped fodder in the trollies which resulted in the requirement of lesser labourers as compared to traditional methods of fodder cutting.
